Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers, was born on August 8, 1989, in Paris. After relocating to Oxfordshire around the age of five, she enrolled in the Dragon School. When she was six years old, Emma knew she would like to be an actress and for a number of years she was a student at the Oxford Branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theater school, where she learned the art of acting and dancing. From the age of 10 she was involved as the lead in a number of Stagecoach School plays and productions. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the 2001 version from J.K. Rowling's bestselling British book was released in 1999. Emma was found by agents through their Oxford teacher. David Heyman told Emma along together with Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe that they had all been through 8 consecutive auditions. Emma's first film appearance coincided with the release Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2002). It was the year's top production, and it broke records at the opening as well as the first weekend. Critics praised the film and the performance of three leading young actors. The Daily Telegraph, an influential British newspaper, called Emma's acting "amazing". Later Emma was shortlisted for five prizes for her work in the film, winning an award called the Young Artist Award for Leading Young Actress in an feature Film.
